Thomas Blau is a licensed attorney in both New Jersey and New York, currently residing in Jersey City, NJ. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from New York Law School, where he graduated in May 2021. During his time at law school, he received the prestigious Dean’s Scholarship for academic excellence and earned a spot on the Dean’s List in both Spring 2020 and Fall 2020. His coursework focused on Trial Advocacy, Real Estate Transactions and Finance, and Landlord-Tenant Law. Prior to his legal studies, Thomas earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The College of New Jersey in May 2017. During his undergraduate studies, he was actively involved in Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity, serving as the Scholarship Committee Chair, and had the opportunity to study abroad in Madrid, Spain, in the summer of 2015.

Prior to joining Blau & Blau, Thomas worked as Corporate Counsel for Kuehne + Nagel Inc. in Jersey City, NJ, where he had been employed from October 2022 to April 2025. At Kuehne + Nagel, he negotiated transportation contracts with Fortune 500 clients and provides legal advice to internal stakeholders on employment matters. Additionally, he served as the lead internal counsel during a significant corporate restructuring. Prior to this, Thomas worked as a Landlord-Tenant Legal Specialist for Essex County Superior Court in Newark, NJ, from August 2021 to October 2022. In this position, he mediated settlement conferences between commercial and residential landlords and tenants, analyzing legal issues before trial and managing the largest landlord-tenant settlement conference caseload in New Jersey.

Thomas has also gained experience through internships. In the summer of 2020, he was a Policy Practice Group Intern at Venable-NYLS in New York, NY, where he researched and drafted legal memoranda on COVID-19 related issues and contributed to legislative strategies aimed at raising awareness about the pandemic’s impact on communities of color. Earlier in his career, Thomas worked as a legal extern at DeVerna Law Firm in New York, NY, where he assisted with case law research on personal injury matters and contributed to an appellate brief in a premises liability case. Additionally, he was a legal intern at Kings County Supreme Court in Brooklyn, NY, under the mentorship of Judge Lauren Baily-Schiffman, where he conducted research and drafted a summary judgment decision for a real estate transaction matter and observed civil court proceedings.
Thomas has also held a legislative internship with Senator Cory A. Booker in Washington, D.C., in the summer of 2016, where he managed the Senator’s schedule and cataloged constituent emails to help inform policy decisions.

He holds a LexisNexis Proficiency Certification and is licensed to practice law in both New Jersey and New York.
